Bus Drivers - South London

London Central and London General operate approximately 1500 buses in and around London. To ensure that we provide a reliable service, we employ more than 4000 drivers. London Central operates from bus garages in Bexleyheath, Camberwell, New Cross and Peckham, and London General in Belvedere, Mandela Way (Bermondsey) Merton, Putney, Stockwell, Sutton, Waterloo and Waterside Way (Wimbledon).

We have an extremely diverse workforce representing the multi-cultural society that we live and work in. However, we are keen to encourage more women to become bus drivers as they are one group that we feel are under represented.

You must have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years (subject to meeting certain criteria) and be prepared to work shifts (including weekends and public holidays). In addition, you must be numerate and literate as well as being able to deal with people in a tactful and confident manner.

We have no staff parking at our garages, so applicants must be able to demonstrate their ability to commute by public transport to their requested location, bearing in mind that the job involves working shifts when public transport can be limited at certain times of the day.

WHAT WE OFFER:

-Professional training (with pay) to pass both PCV theory and practical tests
-Excellent rates of pay with service related increases
Overtime available (paid at enhanced rates)
-Opportunity to gain a nationally recognised industry qualification
-Concessionary travel benefits for you and your partner* on London Buses, London Underground, Overground, DLR and Tramlink. (*after 3 months service)
