Betty Gallacher Wins Natalia Muir Award

At the London Bus, Tram and Dial-a-Ride Awards on 5th February driver and trade union convenor Betty Gallacher was awarded the Natalia Muir Award for outstanding contribution to equality and diversity in the London bus industry.

These awards have become an annual event to celebrate the achievements of transport staff in London. The event, which held at 30 St. Mary Axe (the Gherkin building) was hosted by David Brown, MD Surface Transport at TfL.

Betty, who has over 37 years service with London General, was nominated by John Trayner, Managing Director, who was there so see her receive her award. John said, ‘I am delighted to see Betty recognised for the work she has done for her colleagues, both in encouraging women to work in the bus industry and for her work on behalf of the trade union”.

• This is the second time a London General member of staff has won this award, having been won by a Liz Lee of Stockwell last year.
• Putney Garage is in Chelverton Road, Putney and operates Routes 14, 22, 39, 74, 85, 424 and 430 under contract to TfL.
