Last Day of Crew Operation Route 14/22

Issue Date: 30 June 2005

No. 0039

We can confirm that to commemorate the end of crew operation with London General, some special events will be taking place on Friday 22nd July.

A small number of special buses which depict the last fifty years of operation on both Routes 14 and 22 will operate throughout the day in addition to the normal service. Details of times of these special buses are available on the company website at www.londongeneral.co.uk (click link below)

Members of the engineering staff have recently repainted one of the longer serving Routemasters at Putney garage into a version of the original ‘General’ livery as worn by the famous ‘B’ type buses which actually operated on Route 14 around the time of the First World War. This vehicle will also be operating as part of the day’s commemoration.

A special set of four postcards depicting the Routemasters at work on the services will be handed out on the day.

Starting from Saturday 23rd July brand new low floor double deck buses will be introduced on the services. There will be no major changes to times or frequency of the services.
